What it means for the community
BUA Cement has intensified competition in Nigeria's cement sector, contributing to more stable cement prices for consumers and construction companies. The company directly employs over 5,000 people and supports tens of thousands of indirect jobs in transport, distribution, and construction. BUA Cement's rapid growth from a single plant to a 17 MTPA producer in under a decade demonstrates the potential for large-scale industrial development in Nigeria. The Sokoto operations have catalysed economic development in Nigeria's northwest, one of the country's most economically challenged regions.
